Free relationship quiz for couples

What does your relationship need now?

Every relationship moves through seasons. Find out which one you’re in, where to give your attention, and where to grow next.

Did you know most relationships don’t change in one big moment? They change when life does. A new baby. Kids grow up and head out on their own journey. A career shift, a move, aging parents, retirement. Each one asks something new of the two of you.

These turning points are normal, but they are also the time when many couples find themselves struggling to find new ways to relate and connect.

The good news is, a new season isn’t a problem to fix, it’s something to adapt to.

This quiz takes about five minutes. You’ll each answer on your own. You’ll see your season, what’s working between you, and your growth edge: where to give your attention now. Then you’ll get a free workbook made for that growth edge, for the two of you to do at home.

Built on the Gottman Method (I’ve completed its Level 1 training) and Imago dialogue, which I trained in extensively in graduate school.

Questions about the quiz

How do I know what my relationship needs?

Start by noticing what has changed. Most couples feel it before they can name it: less time to talk, more tension around the to-do list, less touch, less laughter. This quiz looks at four areas long-term couples most often need to tend. Your lowest area is your growth edge, the place where a little attention brings the most warmth back.

What are the four growth edges in long-term relationships?

Friendship and Fun: knowing each other now, appreciation and play. Talking and Repair: hard conversations, saying what you need and finding your way back. Closeness and Desire: feeling known, touch and desire. Partnership and the Mental Load: sharing the invisible work of a home and family, and facing stress as a team.

Is this quiz only for married couples?

No. It is for any committed couple, married or not. The questions speak especially to couples who have been together for years and are moving through a life change: a new baby, kids heading out, a career shift, a move or retirement.

Should we take the quiz together or separately?

Separately. Each partner answers on their own. Then you can send your partner a private link, and when they finish you will both see your results side by side.

What happens after the quiz?

You will see your relationship season, your scores in all four areas and your growth edge. You also get Your Relationship Focus Plan, a free workbook made for your growth edge. Fill it in online on a phone or computer, or download and print it.
